THE DESERT HAS A LONG MEMORY.
Groom Lake. Papoose Lake. Names that sit just beyond the fence line, where aviation history and speculation share the same horizon.

Groom Lake is a real, restricted flight-test site in southern Nevada. Its documented history is remarkable on its own: the CIA and Lockheed used the remote airfield to develop and test the U-2, followed by the A-12 OXCART program.

In 1955, project planners selected Groom Lake for U-2 testing because the remote dry lakebed offered a long, flat runway and helped keep a sensitive aircraft program out of public view. The A-12, a faster successor developed under the OXCART program, also flew from the site. Some operating details remain classified; the public record identifies these as reconnaissance aircraft programs, not extraterrestrial technology.
The secrecy created a fertile setting for speculation. High-altitude aircraft unfamiliar to civilian observers contributed to some UFO reports, according to the declassified history. That can explain plausible misidentifications; it cannot, by itself, explain every sighting or prove every later story about the base.
Bob Lazar’s account of a separate facility called S-4 near Papoose Lake is testimony associated with Area 51, not a documented part of Groom Lake’s U-2 or OXCART history. The facility and the craft he describes have not been independently verified in the public record.
THE WITNESS INDEX
Every account begins with someone willing to say what they saw. We keep the testimony, the context, and the questions together.
ANCIENT ALIENS / EGYPT / ARCHAEOLOGY
Ancient-astronaut stories are popular, but claims that extraterrestrials built Egypt's monuments are not supported by archaeological evidence. Start with the excavation record, the workers' settlement, the texts, and the objects themselves.

The scale of the pyramids is extraordinary; that is not evidence their builders were nonhuman. Excavations at Giza document the people and institutions behind the monuments, including a settlement associated with pyramid workers. Archaeologists continue to debate details of planning, transport, and construction, but open questions are not positive evidence for alien intervention.
These links focus on two specific ancient-alien theories and three archaeological discoveries that can be examined directly. Theories are labeled as theories; an intriguing find, including an unexplained void, is not evidence of extraterrestrial involvement.
A NOTE ON THE UNKNOWN
Alien Contact is a field archive, not a verdict. We distinguish documented records from personal testimony and speculation. The unknown deserves curiosity; the evidence deserves care.
